About Me

Ruth N. Headlam
Hi there, My name is Ruth Headlam, but I also go by the nickname Nickay. I’m fairly new to the Elmore Stoutt High School as a teacher, but I still have my most-cherished memories there as a student. Attending ESHS was where I found my passion—my love for teaching, art, and math.
I came to the realization that no matter what path one takes, math would always be at the core. I love to help, impart knowledge, and encourage, so as a teacher, I want each student to be the best that they can—to realize their passions and to go towards it. In my classroom, learning meets creativity.
Teaching Style
Introducing Creativity into the Classroom
Creativity and innovation is the philosophy of learning. Without encouraging creativity, learning is impossible. In my classroom, I encourage students to be creative in the way they solve problems, analyze situations, and plan for their future.
Teaching to Suit Various Learning Styles
Research shows that student fall into one or more of the four learning style categories. Auditory, Visual, Tactile, and Read/Writing learning styles are taken into consideration in the way I teach and present information for students.
Preparing Students for a Lifetime of Success
Mathematics is something that is needed throughout the rest of life, but more importantly, it's the self-discipline that a student develops which determines his/her success in life. I prep students for a successful life by teaching them the skills to advance their love for learning.
