Instructional Design

Instructional designers work along with teachers and curriculum developers to create material that makes teaching and delivering content easier while simultaneously creating engaging and appealing lessons for students.

Instructional Design for Mathematics

Instructional design is the practice of designing and developing instructional materials and experiences for educators to create efficient and engaging lessons that inspire and motivate students to learn.

Instructional designers work along with teachers and curriculum developers to create material that makes teaching and delivering content easier while simultaneously creating engaging and appealing lessons for students.

I believe that instructional design for mathematics should focus on giving mathematics a ‘real-life’ purpose that each student can see and recognize. I believe in the ‘I Investigate, I Illustrate, I Theorize’ approach to mathematics.

I design digital, technological, and physical content that focuses on planning lessons to include this three-step approach to learning math. I have also designed lessons that allow students to visualize mathematical concepts, understand the purpose of these concepts through modeling and application, and then allow them to draw conclusions from their discoveries.

Teacher-Centered Instructional Design

Teachers only need to focus on delivering the content in a way that they think is suitable for their students. They shouldn’t have to worry about creating content (digital or physical) for their classrooms, nor should they be worried about sourcing content that would aid them in the classroom.

Instructional design seeks to remove this worry from teachers who already have a lot of work on their hands. Instructional designers can create videos, interactive games, audio, models, interactive lesson slides, and other materials specific to the curriculum’s needs. They also focus on designing content that makes it easier for teachers to track their students’ learning progress and determine the next steps they should take.

Digital Escape Room

One of my best projects was creating a digital escape room using various software. The aim was to create an immersive game-like experience for students in an educational setting. This digital escape room allowed them to solve puzzles, have fun, and learn!
